Mom turns in 18-year-old son accused in deadly apartment shooting, Tennessee cops say

An 18-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a man has been charged, thanks to a call from his mom, according to Tennessee police.

Jadon Glasper was arrested on second-degree murder charges in the Oct. 27 shooting of Michael Cross-Clay at an apartment in Memphis, according to an arrest affidavit at obtained by McClatchy News. Authorities found Glasper at his mother’s home in Horn Lake, Mississippi.

A woman called police on Wednesday and told them her son had shot someone in Memphis, the affidavit reads. Horn Lake authorities alerted Memphis police, who went to Glasper’s apartment to investigate. Inside they found Cross-Clay unresponsive, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Horn Lake officers arrested Glasper and took him to the police station where, they say, he admitted to the shooting. He told police Cross-Clay had come into his room yelling and asking about a gun, according to the affidavit. That’s when Glasper grabbed a gun and fired “because he was scared.”

Glasper said he knew Cross-Clay wasn’t armed, however.

Horn Lake, Mississippi is about 20 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee.
