A construction worker found a dead body hidden between concrete barriers of a Texas interstate, authorities said.

After the body was discovered, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to Interstate 10, west of Hamshire Road, at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, according to a Facebook post from the department.

“It appeared that the deceased person had been there for quite some time,” the sheriff’s office said.

An autopsy was ordered, and an investigation into the person’s death is ongoing.

Authorities say the body has not been identified, and a cause of death has not been determined.

Jefferson County is in southeast Texas, about 80 miles east of Houston.
