Roller rink or super villain’s lair? California mansion divides Zillow Gone Wild
A mansion in the star-studded city of Calabasas, California, has confused fans of a popular real estate social media page — but with good reason.
It’s a vast six-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate listed for $3.99 million, and while it has breathtaking views from its perch in the Southern California landscape, more than a few rooms are drawing some questions.
“Tucked into the hillside, this home spans three floors: over 11,000 square feet of living space,” the listing on Zillow.com says. “Its design is bright, clean, and modern featuring hand blown Murano Italian glass and antiques from 19th century France. The home opens to an expansive near-270 degree wraparound view. All rooms feature stunning views.”
One of those rooms looks like a school auditorium, which you don’t see too often in houses. Also, while all the rooms seem to have an abundance of space, their light hardwood floors give off a very “roller rink” vibe, which is why fans of Zillow Gone Wild — a Facebook and Twitter page that highlights unique houses on the real estate market — are so confused by it.
“The buyer: I want you to design me a home that feels like I’m at a community college but also like I’m about to give a presentation on a multi-level marketing scheme at the Radisson,” one person joked. “Architect: say no more.”
“I have no idea why I love cribs like this when I’m such an introvert,” someone said. “I’d just get a large dog so we can put on shows for each other I guess.”
“This would make a great retreat space for artists/performing arts etc,” another noted. “Or a great lair for a super villain.”
“I think the house has a lot of potential and being in the highly desired Calabasas area, even more so. I think the back of the home is impressive and probably has gorgeous views,” one person said.
“Close to perfect but I prefer cafetoriums with a sliding curtain wall in my home,” another joked. “The search continues.”
“This would make a great roller skating venue,” someone observed. “Just add some disco balls and music and skate around for hours.”
“Why am I such a nerd? I’m like this could be the school for the Xmen,” one person said.
“This house looks like a prison in Denmark,” someone commented.
“For that tech millionaire who secretly dreams of being a Broadway star,” another said.
