A 22-year-old man was electrocuted after leaving a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole, according to a Missouri sheriff’s office.

Boone County deputies were called to the incident at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, according to a news release. They found Andrew Blaine Moss of Hallsville dead at the scene.

Authorities say the vehicle had crashed into the utility pole, knocking down a power line.

“Evidence indicated Moss inadvertently contacted the live powerline after exiting the vehicle,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said no other details will be released at this time.

Boone County is in central Missouri, about 130 miles east of Kansas City.
