After responding to reports of a home burglary, police found a “mummified” body in a bathtub, Arizona authorities said.

When officers arrived, they found a 65-year-old woman rummaging through the house on Palm Avenue in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 10, the Bullhead City Police Department said in a Sept. 13 Facebook post.

“There were pry marks on the door indicating forced entry into the home,” according to officials.

Police said they believe the body is the homeowner’s, but it is “unknown how long the body had been in the house.”

As they had not seen the homeowner “in about a year,” neighbors said they believed she had moved, according to police.

The same intruder had also been at the home on Sept. 8 and took “purses, bags and clothing” to sell online, according to police.

Upon searching the woman’s home and car, detectives also found the homeowner’s “birth certificate, IRS paperwork, driver’s license, and credit cards,” along with drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine, police said.

The intruder was booked into jail on two counts of burglary, police said, but detectives also requested she face additional charges, including those related to credit card theft and drugs.

Bullhead City is about 230 miles northwest of Phoenix.
