12-year-old boy falls off parade float and is run over by it, Missouri troopers say

A 12-year-old fell from a float during a parade and was run over by it, authorities in Missouri said.

Authorities responded to the Black Walnut Festival at 3:34 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Stockton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a crash report.

The boy was seriously injured when he fell from the right side and was run over, troopers said.

He was airlifted to the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, troopers said.

The annual Black Walnut Festival includes a black walnut contest, a quilt show, a carnival and a parade.

Stockton is about 55 miles northwest of Springfield.
