Quick-thinking road worker helps cub reunite with mama bear, Washington video shows

A bear cub got a little help from a quick-thinking road worker to get to its mama on the other side of a Washington highway.

A Blewett Pass maintenance worker was “on the south side of the pass when he noticed a mama bear and her cub separated by US 97” on Monday, Oct. 10, the Washington State Department of Transportation said in a Facebook post.

“John pulled onto the shoulder and activated his truck-mounted message board to warn traffic to slow down for wildlife near the road,” the post said.

A video posted by the department shows the cub reuniting with its mom and retreating up into the mountains.

“Remember to keep a close eye out as there’s a lot of migrating wildlife out there right now,” the post said.

Blewett Pass is about 120 miles east of Tacoma.
