A baby was taken to the hospital after being rescued from a burning hotel room, according to Tennessee firefighters.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire in a hotel room on 717 Spence Lane late Wednesday, Oct. 12, the Nashville Fire Department said, according to WTVF. When officials arrived, they found an open hotel room with a fire burning on one wall.

Inside the room was a baby with no one else present, department officials told WKRN. The baby was transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with injuries related to smoke inhalation.

Responders worked to keep the fire in one room and quickly extinguished it, WSMV reported.

The Nashville Fire Department did not immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment.

A spokesperson with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed to McClatchy News that officers responded to the scene.
