The first thing a husband did after learning he won a big jackpot prize was call his wife, according to the Missouri Lottery.

“And I told her we were going to be debt free!” he said in a Dec. 16 news release.

The man, whose identity was not released, bought a Show Me Cash ticket for the Nov. 23 drawing at a Victory Lane Fuel and Food in Troy, lottery officials said.

“I don’t normally play Show Me Cash,” he said in the release. “But I wanted to give it a try.”

The day after the Show Me Cash drawing, the man checked his numbers and saw he won the $226,000 jackpot prize, according to the release.

He won with numbers 4, 5, 6, 12 and 21, officials said.

After taxes, the man took home $162,720.

Troy is about 55 miles northwest of St. Louis.
