Pickup truck slams through bar, injuring 4, Florida cops say. Driver charged with DUI
A man crashed his pickup truck through the wall of a bar, injuring four people, according to a Florida police department.
Officers responded to a bar in Orlando just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 18, according to a statement from the Orlando Police Department. A pickup truck had crashed through an outdoor seating area and driven through the wall of the bar, a picture shared by the police department shows.
Firefighters with the Orlando Fire Department took four people to a hospital with injuries, the police reported. They were in stable condition.
Officers arrested Jackson M. Click, 45, according to Orange County court records. He is charged with driving under the influence with serious bodily injury.
While he was in custody, he was in a “depressed mood” and repeatedly calling himself stupid, according to an alcohol influence form from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “This was the stupidest decision I ever made,” he told deputies, according to the form.
He was released on a $5,000 bond, according to Orange County jail records.
The establishment, Hideaway Bar, wrote on Facebook that many people had called and sent messages of support after hearing about the crash.
“We did suffer a terrible blow to our home, but it is only bricks,” the statement says. “Nothing matters more to us than our patrons and their safety. We are terribly sad that people have been hurt. They are in our hearts and minds tonight as we try to piece things back together. We ask that you keep them close in your hearts as well.”
The bar said it planned to reopen on Dec. 20. It’s located just north of downtown Orlando, east of Interstate 4.
