Puppies rescued from ‘certain death’ after discovered in plastic bag, Virginia cops say
Newborn puppies are receiving treatment after being found in a knotted plastic bag, according to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia.
A local citizen found the plastic bag in a wooded area, 50 yards from the road, on Jan. 15, the sheriff’s office said. Inside the knotted plastic bag were six black and white puppies. The case is being investigated for animal cruelty.
“The surviving puppies are currently being treated, thanks to a citizen who found them and rescued them from certain death,” deputies said.
A Tail To Be Told Animal Rescue, an animal shelter in Ladysmith, Virginia, posted a call for donations on its Facebook page to help take care of the puppies.
“A lot of people including a very special person doing overnight care have been working around the clock to see that the remaining five puppies grow up to be happy and healthy!” the post said. “Throwing away living beings like garbage is disgraceful and absolutely uncalled for and it happened right here in Caroline County!”
The investigation is ongoing.
