Man shot and killed outside Taco Mac after meeting man for lunch, Georgia police say
A lunch meeting at Taco Mac ended with a man shot dead just steps from the restaurant, police in Georgia say.
The shooting happened at about 12:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, outside the sports bar on Cobb Parkway in Vinings, according to the Cobb County Police Department. Officers arrived to find a man had been shot multiple times.
The victim, identified as 24-year-old Larry Miller, was taken to a hospital where he died, police said. No one else was hurt.
Authorities said Miller arrived at the restaurant to have lunch with Peter Lampley.
A Taco Mac customer recalled hearing “around 15 to 20 gunshots,” WXIA reported. Police said it’s unclear what led to the shooting.
“We looked up and saw a huge number of people running from the other side of the restaurant,” she told the news station. “We all ducked down under a table.”
Another witness said Lampley ran out of the restaurant naked.
“He had no shirt on and his pants down to his ankles with no underwear on,” the witness told WSB-TV.
Lampley was arrested and booked into the Cobb County Jail, where he was being held without bond as of Jan. 23, online records show. He was charged with murder in connection to Miller’s death.
Vinings is about 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
