A kitten with his head stuck in a soup can stole the hearts of a South Carolina shelter — and got a name that fit him to a tee.

A man found the tabby kitten on Monday, May 8, and brought it to the Humane Society of Marlboro County in Bennettsville, the shelter said in a Facebook post.

When the kitten arrived, a tin can was firmly wedged over his head. Veterinary staff helped pry the kitten out of the soup can and treated his cuts.

“A good name for him would be either Campbell or Soupy,” one viewer commented.

The shelter was on the same page, one staff member told the commenter. The shelter named him Campbell after his unfortunate predicament.

Bennettsville is about 100 miles northeast of Columbia.
