A 65-year-old man checked his lottery tickets and then told his wife she could retire, lottery officials in Maryland said.

He had won $750,000.

The man bought 15 Pick 5 tickets from a liquor store in Fort Washington, the Maryland Lottery said in an Aug. 15 news release.

He played the same numbers across all of his tickets. The next day, he learned he had used winning numbers, scoring him $50,000 per ticket, which totals $750,000.

After his win, he told his wife she could retire from her job.

Lottery officials said he also has plans to retire from being a federal worker.

Fort Washington is about 60 miles southwest of Baltimore.
