Police in Illinois say they are investigating a shooting that left two adults, two children and three dogs dead.
Officers were called to a home on Sunday, Sept. 17 around 8:45 p.m. to perform a welfare check, a news release from the Romeoville Police Department said.
Police said one of the adults in the home didn’t show up to work for their 6 a.m. shift and wasn’t answering their phone.
When police got there, they found four peopledead from gunshot wounds, the release said.
Alberto Rolon and Zoralda Bartolomei were identified as the two adult victims, the news release said. Police did not name the children or give an age.
During a news conference streamed by WGN9, Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Chris Burne said the children were related to the two adults. He also said three dogs were found dead from gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating the incident as a murder, and the suspect is not among the victims, ruling out a murder-suicide, Burne said during the news conference.
Officials believe the shooting took place between 9 p.m. on Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, the news release said.
