Couple thanks ‘manifestation’ for big Powerball win in Maryland. ‘Took me by surprise’
A lucky couple thanks “manifestation” for their big Powerball win in Maryland, lottery officials said.
Now, the husband and wife have $50,000 in prize money.
Initially, they forgot to pick up a Powerball ticket during their weekly stop at a store in Mechanicsville, the Maryland Lottery said in a Sept. 22 news release.
“She told me to make that U-turn,” the husband told lottery officials.
The couple ended up spending $10 on a Powerball ticket, which gave them “five lines of numbers,” lottery officials said.
They won the third-tier prize of $50,000 on the fifth line.
“If we would have bought a $6, $8 ticket or anything less, we wouldn’t have gotten that last line,” the wife said.
A $2 Powerball game gives players five numbers between 1 and 69 to select for white balls and then one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball.
The 48-year-old woman, who wears a lucky alligator tooth necklace, told lottery officials she believes in “the power of manifesting wins.”
“I try to manifest a win all the time, but even this win took me by surprise,” she said.
Mechanicsville is about 80 miles south of Baltimore.
