70-year-old woman kills husband, goes to son’s house and pulls gun on him, IN cops say
An Indiana woman was arrested after officials said she killed her husband.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in Nappanee at about 4:50 a.m. March 22, according to a Facebook post.
Officials said in court records that a man dropped off his mother, 70-year-old Linda Tener, at home after she went to a hospital to be treated for anxiety, WSBT reported.
Less than 12 hours after leaving his parents’ home a half-mile away, the man found Tener on his front porch pointing a gun at him, the outlet reported, citing court documents.
The man was able to wrestle the gun away from Tener, officials told WNDU. That’s when the woman told him, “She hurt dad, dad’s gone and your dad is dead, I shot him,” officials said.
Authorities arrived and took Tener into custody, according to the Elkhart Truth. Officials said they then went to her home and found her husband, Johnnie Tener, dead sitting in a recliner with a gunshot wound to the head.
Court records show Tener is charged with one count of murder. An attorney was not listed for Tener in court records.
Nappanee is a 60-mile drive northwest from Fort Wayne.
