A Michigan man killed his roommate in an argument over fast food and is charged with second-degree murder, authorities say.

Mark Newsome, 54, was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on June 17, according to a news release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 31, when Newsome got into an argument with his 72-year-old roommate, Dale Mitchell, that turned physical, officials said.

The argument was over a Taco Bell meal, the Macomb Daily reported. Newsome accused Mitchell of stealing his food and repeatedly punched Mitchell in the head, witnesses told WJBK.

“’Why are you doing this? Leave me alone. Quit, please quit.’ That’s what I heard,” another roommate, Larry Melton, told WJBK.

Newsome is being held without bond. McClatchy News reached out to Newsome’s attorney but did not immediately hear back.
