Husband hears wife cry out inside waterlogged barn before she dies, Florida cops say
A man heard his wife cry out before she was killed in an accident inside their barn, Florida officials said.
It was raining hard and the 39-year-old woman and her husband were working in a barn at their home in Lake Helen on Friday, Aug. 2, when the fatal incident happened, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in an Aug. 4 news release.
“Her husband heard her cry out and turned to find her holding onto a metal drum fan while seemingly being electrocuted,” deputies said.
The husband “kicked the fan away,” then performed CPR on her until first responders arrived, according to the sheriff’s office. Despite attempts to save her, his wife died.
At the scene, deputies noticed there were water puddles inside the barn, and a “tattered and worn” power cable attached to a fan.
The woman’s cause of death will be announced after an autopsy by the medical examiner, the sheriff’s office said.
Lake Helen is a roughly 35-mile drive northeast from Orlando.
