A 59-year-old woman was struck and killed as she tried to cross a street, Pennsylvania authorities say.

The fatal crash happened just before midnight Wednesday, Aug. 7, on Broad Street on the north side of Philadelphia, according to the city police department.

The woman had just left a convenience store when she was struck by the driver of a Subaru Ascent, police told WPVI.

The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed as of Aug. 8, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver remained at the scene, according to police.
