A groom is charged with murder and his bride was also arrested in the death of one of their groomsman on their wedding night, Michigan authorities say.

The incident happened in Flint around 8 p.m. on Aug. 30, hours after the wedding between James Shirah and Savahna Collier, according to the Flint Police Department.

Police said Shirah got into an argument with 29-year-old Terry Lewis Taylor Jr., who was a groomsman in the wedding.

Shirah is accused of entering “a large SUV” and intentionally striking Taylor while driving “at a high rate of speed,” police said.

Lewis died after being taken to a hospital, according to police.

The victim was described in a GoFundMe as a father of three, whose fiancée is also pregnant.

“He was an amazing person,” his fiancée said in the GoFundMe.

Shirah is charged with second-degree murder and was being held in jail without bond, police said. Collier was charged with accessory after the fact to a felony and was jailed on a $4,000 bond.

Flint is about a 70-mile drive northwest from Detroit.
