When 49-year-old Darron Paschal didn’t check out of his motel room, a front desk clerk went to check on the room, Texas police said.

She found Paschal lying on the floor of the motel room with a gunshot wound in May 2020, according to Houston police. Four years later, police announced the arrest and charges against a 41-year-old woman.

Auncharetta Mohono was arrested Sept. 7 and charged with murder, police said in a Sept. 9 news release. She’s held in the Harris County Jail on a $125,000 bond, according to jail records.

McClatchy News was unable to obtain contact information for Mohono’s attorney.

The woman is accused of fatally shooting Paschal, according to police. Investigators did not disclose what led up to the shooting. First responders pronounced Paschal dead at the scene.

Mohono is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 5.
