An Illinois man was arrested after officials said he fatally shot his wife in their home.

Around 11 a.m. Sept. 5, officers with the Warrenville Police Department were called to a home for a report of a cardiac arrest, according to a news release.

When the officer arrived, Steven Kramer, 39, told her that his 47-year-old wife, Jaime Neumann, was upstairs in a bedroom. The officer went into the bedroom to find Neumann lying on the ground, face up with blood on her face and body, the DuPage County state’s attorney and Warrenville chief of police said in the release.

Neumann was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy showed that Neumann had been shot six times, once in her face, three times in the chest, and once in her leg and arm, officials said.

After investigating, officials said Kramer and Neumann got into a verbal altercation that became physical, leading to Kramer shooting Neumann.

“A beautiful mother of three amazing girls—ages 14, 9, and 4—was tragically taken from them. Jaime was loved by everyone who knew her, and leaving her girls behind is not something she would have ever chosen. Sadly, her life was cut short due to domestic violence, leaving all of her daughters parentless,” a GoFundMe page said.

Kramer is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, according to police. A motion to deny post-trial release was granted by a judge.

Jaime was described in the GoFundMe as a “genuinely good person who touched the lives of many.”

Kramer is due back in court on Oct. 7.

Warrenville is a 30-mile drive west of Chicago.
