24-year-old fatally hit by several vehicles after leaping from car, California cops say
A woman died after she leaped from a car on an interstate and was hit by several vehicles, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 24-year-old woman jumped from the passenger seat of a black Audi and rolled into traffic on Interstate 580 in Livermore at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, the agency said in a news release.
The Audi driver briefly pulled over, then drove away, leaving the woman in traffic, officers said, calling the incident “suspicious.”
He did not notify authorities of the incident until he reached Tracy, about 20 miles away, officers said.
Several other vehicles ran over the Pleasant Hill woman, killing her, officers said.
The Audi driver was arrested on a hit-and-run charge, officers said.
Investigators ask that anyone with information on the incident call 925-828-0466.
Livermore is about a 45-mile drive east from San Francisco.
