Man fatally shot at school stadium during youth flag football game, Wisconsin cops say
A 47-year-old man was shot and killed at a youth flag football game, Wisconsin authorities said.
The Milwaukee Fire Department said it responded just after 1 p.m. Oct. 12 to reports of a shooting at Milwaukee Public Schools’ South Stadium, WISN reported.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the outlet reported. Authorities have not released the man’s name.
A 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting, but Milwaukee police later said he was not a suspect, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Milwaukee police said “the circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation,” the Associated Press reported.
Milwaukee Public Schools said the district is working with police to investigate the incident, WMLW reported.
“A person was killed in an act of gun violence. At a flag football game!” Common Council President José G. Pérez said in an Oct. 12 statement.
“We MUST do better for ourselves, our children, and neighbors for the future of our city,” he said.
