Thieves break into store and steal 100 shoes — just right ones, Ohio owner says
An Ohio shoe store owner said he got an unexpected call in the earlier morning hours about an unusual robbery at his business.
“Over 100 right shoes taken,” Hunter Emigh, owner and CEO of Sole Brothers 513, said in an Oct. 10 Facebook post.
Emigh said the thieves also took “several full pairs, tons of clothing pieces, as well as other items and personal belongings.”
In an Oct. 14 post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Cincinnati Police Department shared security footage of a man walking around the store at about 2 a.m. Oct. 8 with his arms full of sneakers.
“I realized that they took almost every other shoe to a lot of the pairs that were on the wall,” Emigh told WCPO, calling the robbery “a demoralizing thing.”
Emigh estimated the robbery cost the business about $45,000, the outlet reported.
Emigh said he plans to stay open and to “slowly restock and get things back to normal.”
“I know someone knows the drunk dude who took over 100 right shoes,” Emigh said in a Facebook post with pictures and additional surveillance footage.
The Cincinnati Police Department asks anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040 or Det. Bell at 513-352-3518.
