92-year-old found shot dead outside with leaf blower still running, Missouri reports say
Police in Missouri are investigating after they say a 92-year-old man was shot dead.
At 11:50 a.m. Oct. 30, officers in St. Louis County were called for reports of a shooting, according to a news release from the police department.
Robert Prewett suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Prewett’s son told KSDK that a neighbor found his father dead in his yard with a leaf blower still running.
“He was a pillar in the community. He was a good man. I loved that man,” neighbor Patrick Ruffin told the news outlet. “ ... I would take him my newspaper every day. Seven days a week he would sit out there on his porch and do puzzles. He really enjoyed that. All of the neighbors and lots of police officers all knew and loved Mr. (Prewett).”
Prewett was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956, KMOV reported.
“I’m distraught. It breaks my heart,” Ruffin told the news outlet.
No arrests have been made in the case and police are still investigating.
