A stroke of good luck led to a lottery player winning a multi-million dollar prize off a scratch-off game in Florida, lottery officials said.

Jessica Callihan, of Alabama, turned a $20 Gold Rush Legacy ticket into a $10 million win, the Florida Lottery announced in a Nov. 18 news release.

She bought her lucky ticket from a Cumberland Farms convenience store on Perdido Key near Pensacola, according to the release.

Although the game launched in April, Callihan is the only one to win a $10 million top prize so far, records show.

She chose to take her winnings home as a one-time payment of $6.03 million, lottery officials said.

Three out of four top prizes remain, and the odds of winning are 1 in 15,042,825, according to the lottery website.

The game also has 13 $1 million dollar prizes remaining and other prizes ranging from $20 to $25,000. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 2.97.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
