A woman threatened fast food workers, telling them she had a firearm in her purse, over missing french fries, California police reported.

The customer sent her children into the restaurant to complain about fries missing from their fast food order on Thursday, Dec. 5, San Pablo police said in a news release.

When workers told the children to have their mother come in with the receipt, the woman entered and began threatening to attack employees, police said.

She told the workers she had a firearm in her purse, police said. The workers called 911.

The woman confirmed to officers that she had a gun in her purse, which was now being held by her 9-year-old daughter, police said.

Officers retrieved the purse and a pistol inside, police said.

The woman, who was arrested, faces charges of criminal threats with a firearm and child endangerment, police said. The children were picked up by their father.

“She had to wait even longer for her food, which unfortunately was a sandwich and milk rather than a hamburger and fries,” police said.

San Pablo is about a 20-mile drive northeast from San Francisco.
