Video shows man shove baby turkey under coat as animals go missing from CA park

A security video at a California farm park shows a man walk off with a stolen baby turkey hours before several chickens also were stolen, authorities reported.

The baby turkey, named Megara, and five chickens are still missing, San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services said in a Facebook post.

Video posted by the agency shows a man grabbing Megara and attempting to conceal the turkey under his coat before walking away.

The theft took place at Emma Prusch Farm Park at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, officials said. Later that night, someone stole five chickens from the park and left a sixth dead.

It’s not known if the thefts are connected, officials said.

“These animals are beloved members of our park family,” officials said in the post.

The chicken coop at the park has been fitted with new locks and the barn has been closed for safety, officials said.

Police ask anyone with information on the thefts to call 408-277-8900.

The park, a former dairy farm, was donated to the city in 1962 to be turned into an agricultural park. It hosts 4H programs and a community garden.

San Jose is about a 50-mile drive southeast from San Francisco.
