Pup at Texas shelter is ‘scared, and grieving,’ after ill owner had to give her up
A dog in North Texas is in need of some comfort and the heart of a kind human who is willing to be her new person.
“Meet Lily. She’s just two years old and barely 20 pounds,” Patti Dawson, the director of Dallas Dog Rescue, Rehab and Reform, said in an Oct. 30 Facebook post.
“And she’s breaking my heart.”
It’s clear to see that Lily, with her huge eyes and golden hued fur, could immediately melt anyone’s heart. Only thing is, she’s showing a lot of fear.
“We’ve only had her for 48 hours, and she’s terrified. She was an owner surrender her person is sick and can’t care for her anymore,” Dawson said.
“This wasn’t a case of giving up. It was heartbreak on both sides. Lily came from love, but she’s now confused, scared, and grieving.”
While Lily has only been with the rescue a short time, she is already displaying behaviors associated with kennel stress, which sometimes happens with dogs who are used to a home environment.
“She’s showing signs of serious kennel anxiety and fear-based behaviors. She’s lunging in the kennel, trembling, and unable to relax,” Dawson said. “She just needs time, patience, and a calm, experienced foster who can help her decompress. Our trainer is already looped in and ready to help — but she can’t stay in training forever.”
