Federal Way City Council member Martin Moore is running to represent the 30th District in the state House of Representatives, saying he has a track record of “building consensus, protecting working families, and helping our most vulnerable.”

The 30th Legislative District covers parts of King and Pierce counties, including Federal Way, Algona, Pacific, Milton, Des Moines and Auburn. Moore is running for Position 1, currently held by state Rep. Mike Pellicciotti, a Democrat who has entered the race for state Treasurer.

Moore, an Independent/Republican, was first elected to the Federal Way City Council in 2013. He was re-elected in 2017 and is a former legislative aide to the late state Rep. Roger Freeman, a Democrat.

“Even in hyper-partisan times, I truly believe we can put people first and lead with compassion and foresight,” Moore said in a written statement.
