Federal Way small business owner enters 30th District state House race

A Federal Way resident who owns a small business is running for the state House of Representatives in the 30th Legislative District.

Republican Jack Walsh said he hasn’t decided yet whether to run for Position 1 or 2. Democratic state Rep. Mike Pellicciotti, who is running for state Treasurer, is in Position 1. Position 2 is held by Democrat Jesse Johnson, who was recently appointed to replace Kristine Reeves, who resigned last month to run for Denny Heck’s 10th Congressional District seat.

The 30th Legislative District covers parts of King and Pierce counties, including Federal Way, Algona, Pacific, Milton, Des Moines, and Auburn.

“I want our government to work for us. I won’t sit by and watch the homeless and mental health crisis continue to be ignored. I won’t sit by and watch housing prices continuing to increase while young families aren’t able to buy a house and live the American dream, and I won’t sit by while Democrats try to vote in a devastating state income tax,” said the 61-year-old Walsh, who owns Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream in Federal Way.
