Pierce County election filing, Day 1: John Ladenburg throws hat in ring
A single position on the county’s 21-member charter review commission drew the most candidates of any office in Pierce County as election filing week opened Monday.
Five people did not waste any time filing to run for Charter Review Commissioner District 4, Position 3. Meantime, most of the other positions on the commission have attracted only individual candidates so far.
The commission is a temporary group that will consider amendments to the county’s home-rule charter for the first time in a decade. Among the familiar names who were uncontested as of Monday: Former County Executive John Ladenburg and current state legislator Hans Zeiger, R-Puyallup.

More than 200 local offices are up for election this year on city and town councils; school, fire, parks and recreation, and water district boards; the Superior Court bench; and the Port of Tacoma commission.
