Kevin Phelps, Pierce County deputy executive, finalist for Glendale, Arizona, job

Pierce County Deputy Executive Kevin Phelps has moved to the next round of interviews for a city manager job in Arizona.

The former Tacoma City Council member is one of two finalists who will interview in mid-November for the top job in Glendale, Arizona, The Arizona Republic reported Monday.

Phelps told The News Tribune earlier this month, when he was among five finalists, that Glendale is a “home away from home,” but he will be happy no matter the outcome. He said he remains dedicated to Pierce County, and will continue as deputy executive if the new pursuit doesn’t work out.

The other candidate is Mesa Assistant City Manager John Pombier, the Republic reported.
