Lawyer Shelly K. Speir announces run for Pierce judgeship

Lawyer Shelly K. Speir has announced that she will run for retiring Judge Vicki Hogan’s position on the Pierce County Superior Court bench.

Speir said in a statement that Hogan has endorsed her for the judgeship.

Speir is the first woman partner at the Tacoma firm Troup, Christnacht, Ladenburg, McKasy, Durkin & Speir.

She’s been a trial lawyer for 16 years, and has worked mostly on personal injury cases, as well as land use and real estate law.

She’s a member of the board of governors of the Washington State Association for Justice, and part of the executive committee of the litigation section of the Washington State Bar Association.

She lives in Lakewood.
