Municipal Judge Grant Blinn to run for Pierce County Superior Court seat

Municipal Court Judge Grant Blinn said Tuesday he’ll run for a Pierce County Superior Court seat.

He said in a statement that he hopes to replace Judge Brian Tollefson, who has said he won’t seek re-election.

Blinn is the Lakewood, University Place, Steilacoom and DuPont Municipal Court judge. For more than 17 years he was a Pierce County deputy prosecutor, and the Sheriff’s Department named him the deputy prosecutor of the year in 2009.

He was on the Tacoma police Child Abduction Response Team, the Board of Trustees of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association and the South Sound 911 Policy Board.

He also was a fire commissioner for the University Place Fire Department and West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

He’s been on the advisory board of the Boys and Girls Club, and is part of the Clover Park Rotary.

Blinn lives with his wife Katie and their three children in University Place.
