Tacoma attorney announces bid for seat on Pierce County Superior Court bench
Attorney Dwayne Christopher announced this week that he’ll run to replace Judge Brian Tollefson on the Pierce County Superior Court bench.
Tollefson announced earlier this month that he plans to retire.
Christopher, who has a law practice in Tacoma, was Tollefson’s judicial assistant from 1998 to 2007. He now handles personal injury, employment discrimination and worker’s compensation cases.
Before that, he was an attorney for a national insurance company, and handled insurance cases at a mid-size law firm.
Christopher is part of the leadership for the R. Merle Palmer Minority Scholarship Foundation, mentors high school and college students and has volunteered at the Tacoma Rescue Mission.
He was a trustee of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, an elected leadership position that last two years, and also chaired the group’s diversity committee.
The bar association gave him its Service to Diversity award in February.
Christopher graduated from Wilson High School in 1990, and lives in Pierce County with his wife Meesha.
All 22 seats on the Superior Court bench are up for election this year.
