Pete Buttigieg coming to Seattle for free rally before Washington primary

First Bernie Sanders came to Tacoma. Less than a week later, Elizabeth Warren came to Seattle.

Now, a third high-profile candidate is making his way to Washington state.

Democratic presidential candidate and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg will be in Seattle 7:30 p.m. March 6 for a free rally.

The location has not yet been announced, but is one of several rallies listed for the candidate in March on the campaign events page.

An appearance in Boise also is listed for the day after Seattle.

No further details were available Tuesday from the campaign.

The Seattle event comes three days after Super Tuesday and four days before the votes are counted in Washington’s vote-by-mail primary, which already has seen early endorsements for the candidates on the Democratic ticket.

The former mayor was in Seattle in December and February for private fundraisers. His last public campaign appearance was at an open fundraising town hall in July that drew more than 1,000 to the Showbox in Seattle, back when some in attendance were still trying to figure out how to pronounce his name.

Sanders so far has drawn the largest audience in Washington state, with more than 17,000 attending his Tacoma Dome rally Feb. 17, while Warren drew more than 7,000 to the Seattle Center Armory and an overflow room Feb. 22.

Over the weekend, Buttigieg himself drew thousands to rallies in Colorado and Virginia.
