Election Day deadline: Ballots due Tuesday for Pierce County voters deciding major races

Have you voted?

If not, here’s your reminder that ballots for the Nov. 2, 2021 general election are due Tuesday.

Ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 2 if mailed, or placed in a ballot dropbox by 8 p.m. Tuesday. For a list of available dropboxes, visit piercecountywa.gov/328/Elections.

This year, Pierce County voters will decide who wins the races of 170 local offices, including the Port of Tacoma, city and town councils, school boards, fire districts, water districts and parks departments.

Pierce County residents also will vote on an amendment to the county charter that would make the county prosecutor’s office nonpartisan.

Out of nearly 555,000 registered voters, 11.67 percent of ballots have been returned as of Friday, according to data from the Pierce County Auditor’s Office.

The percentage of people who have returned their ballots is on par with previous odd-year elections. In the 2019 general election, 14.13 percent of about 520,000 registered voters had returned their ballots at this time, compared to 12.10 percent of 493,000 voters in 2017.
