Fishermen missing after boat capsizes amid 10-foot Oregon waves, Coast Guard says

Search and rescue crews are looking for three missing fishermen after a boat capsized Tuesday off the Oregon coast, according to authorities.

Coast Guard crews from Coos Bay and North Bend were searching for the crew near the entrance of Coos Bay in southern Oregon in the evening, the U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Northwest said in a Facebook post.

The Coast Guard said the search came after an air crew discovered a “capsized fishing vessel at jetty tips.” The air crew was doing routine training at the time, KATU reported.

According to KATU, at roughly 6:15 p.m. “the Coast Guard received a distress signal from the boat. Those signals are activated by water, meaning the boat was sinking, Petty Officer First-Class Levi Read said.”

The boat was a 38-foot fishing vessel called the Pacific Miner, the Coast Guard said.
