Hiker’s body recovered after falling 50 feet into a glacial hole, Washington cops say

A hiker fell 50 feet into a glacial hole on Kololo Peak in northwestern Washington, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Facebook.

His friend used an InReach SOS device to call authorities for help, according to the sheriff’s office. The Snohomish County Search and Rescue team sent out a helicopter and lowered a rescuer into the hole to save the fallen hiker.

But the rescuer found Jake Robinson, 26, of Bainbridge Island, Washington, had died, the Daily Herald reported. The county medical examiner determined “Robinson died of blunt force trauma and drowning,” according to The Associated Press.
