Bumbling burglar slips in snow and leaves behind a trail of cash, Seattle cops say

Seattle police say it’s like “something out of a movie (theater).”

A bungling burglar who broke into a movie theater at 4 a.m. Monday encountered a few problems with his getaway, police say in a release.

Wearing a ski mask, the man tried to escape officers responding to a burglar alarm, but slid on the ice and snow outside, losing thousands of dollars in stolen cash, police wrote.

Officers followed the trail of lost bills and coins to a parking lot across the street, where they arrested the 46-year-old culprit, police wrote. They did not release his name.

Other officers, meanwhile, tried to round up the bills and loose change scattered on the street. A door to the theater had been pried open and a safe inside was damaged, police say.

The hapless thief was booked into jail on suspicion of burglary.

The Pacific Northwest has been hammered by snowstorms this week, The News Tribune reports.
