Professor disappears on camping trip to Mt. Rainier, University of Washington says

Mount Rainier National Park rangers are searching for a University of Washington professor who went missing during an overnight camping trip, the school tweeted.

Sam Dubal, an assistant professor of anthropology, went camping in a remote area near “Ipsuit Creek and Seattle Park” on Oct. 9, his sister, Veena Dubal, tweeted. He was expected to return the following day.

A Facebook post from Mount Rainier National Park says Dubal “was last known to be hiking the Mother Mountain Loop out of the Mowich Lake Trailhead.” Veena tweeted out photos of her brother’s itinerary.

Another tweet from Dubal’s other sister, Dena, gave his description. She asks anyone with tips on his whereabouts to contact park rangers.

Mount Rainier National Park officials directed anyone who was hiking in the area and may have seen Dubal to call the tip line at 253-345-1363.
