Homebrew raccoon-clearing scheme burns down home, Washington cops say

A 38-year-old man “frustrated” by a family of raccoons dwelling under his mobile home decided to do something about it Sunday morning, authorities say.

But the man ended up burning down the home when he knocked over a candle during his do-it-yourself effort, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported on Facebook.

No one else was home and nobody was injured in the blaze, which destroyed the mobile home, sheriff’s officials wrote.

Deputies noted the man had been using narcotics before attempting to remove the raccoons, the Facebook post says.

“Please be careful when having candles inside your residence,” the post reads. “Be safe!”
