McDonald’s looking to hire 4,300 new employees in Washington state. Here’s how to apply
McDonald’s is on a 4,300-employee job hiring spree in Washington state, and offering more benefits than just easy access to Big Macs.
McDonald’s employed about 94,084 fast food and counter workers in 2021, according to the Washington State Employment Security Department.
The fast-food chain is looking for part-time and full-time employees to apply now to fill over 4,300 open positions across the state, according to a press release from Rogers & Cowen, a marketing company.
Available jobs offer advancement opportunities, tuition assistance, English as a second language classes and the ability to enroll in the Archways to Opportunity program, an education and career advising program.
Crew members at McDonald’s work to prepare food, clean and serve customers. Crew members can choose between part-time and full-time positions that affect benefits. Crew members are able to participate in the Archways to Opportunity program whether they are part-time or full-time. Crew members must be at least 16 years old. Pay depends on restaurant location and position, but averages $15.27 an hour in Washington, according to Indeed.
Managers at McDonald’s, such as general managers, are full-time positions that involve more responsibilities in running a restaurant, managing employees and meeting “McDonald’s critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness,” McDonald’s website states. Managers must be at least 18 years old and previous experience in management or quick-service restaurants is strongly desired.
Managers’ salaries can range greatly but are typically around $52,745-$69,000 a year for general managers. Managers also receive benefits such as tuition assistance through the Archways program, Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance for family, a monthly car and wellness allowance, a yearly anniversary bonus as well as a possible $6,000 in bonuses annually, 25 paid days off a year and an eight-week paid sabbatical after 10 consecutive years of service, a 401k plan and manager outings.
The Archways program helps employees who want to earn a high school diploma or a college degree while working for McDonald’s for little or no cost.
Employees in the program can receive 100% reimbursement for the cost of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from Colorado Technical University, as well as a free laptop for coursework. McDonald’s has also partnered with Western Governor’s University to give employees and their families a discount on tuition and access to scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $10,000.
Since the Archways to Opportunity program started in April 2015, over 55,000 employees were assisted with college tuition and over $165 million was given to employees in high school and college tuition assistance, McDonald’s reported.
