A city council meeting was crashed by a meowing feline friend that sneaked into the area “between the ceiling and roof of City Hall sometime prior to the meeting,” Washington officials said.

The cat was able to find its way into the overhang in the back of the council chambers on Feb. 21 in Liberty Lake, according to a news release on Facebook by the city.

The meowing cat “interrupted every participant who came to the microphone during the public comment period,” city officials said.

Photos show it looming over meeting attendees.

Two hours into the meeting and after the cat went well over the three minute speaking time limit, facilities lead Brian Bachman and Police Lt. Darin Morgan rescued it.

Liberty Lake is near the Washington-Idaho border and is about 15 miles east of Spokane.
