Winter weather hits WA mountains. Ski resorts open for the season around Thanksgiving

Whether you’re taking your family to the slopes or hitting the slopes to get some alone time, the holiday season can call many to the mountains.

There are many ski areas in Washington state to choose from. With less-than-normal weather conditions this year, many may be wondering if ski and snowboard season was impacted.

Here are some of the state’s popular ski areas and their reopening schedules.

Ski areas open in Washington

With a good amount of snow recently, a handful of ski areas have opened for winter already. Some are taking long weekends for the holiday.

Crystal Mountain Ski Resort originally planned to reopen this weekend, but recent precipitation allowed for an earlier opening day. The resort opened last weekend, but closed during the week for the holiday. The regular season returns for daily operations Friday.

Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, tickets are available for $99 for adults and $47 for kids and seniors.

Methow Trails in Winthrop recently opened for the season but is closed for the holiday weekend. You can hit the trails again Monday, December 2.

Annual passes are $425, or $225 for weekdays only. A day pass is $30.

Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort in Wenatchee opened last weekend, but is closed Monday through Thursday this week. The mountain is open again Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Full-day adult tickets range between $89 and $99, with special pricing available for children and seniors. Alternatively, there are four levels of season passes available in limited quantities.

49 Degrees North in Chewelah reopened for its season standard, Friday through Tuesday, this past week.

Full-day adult tickets start at $47 for midweek, increasing based on the day, with special prices for youth, military, students and seniors. Several season passes are available as well, including the standard adult pass for $859.

Mt. Baker Ski Area in Whatcom County had its opening day last week.

Full-day adult tickets are $94.27, with special prices available for youth and seniors. Season pass sales have closed.

Washington ski areas opening soon

A handful of ski areas are opening this coming weekend.

White Pass Ski Area is opening Friday, November 29. Full-access adult tickets are available for $85, plus junior options for ages 9 to 16 and partial access options.

Regular season passes are sold out, but a waitlist has been implemented. Season passes for children ages 8 and under or “super seniors” ages 73 and older are still available.

Opening Day at Stevens Pass Ski Area in Skykomish is also set for Nov. 29.

Passes are discounted through December 2. You can build a pass for your ideal trip, starting at $98 per day for adults and $48 per day for children under 13.

Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park is also opening Nov. 29. The full mountain will be open all weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Single-day adult passes are $60 on weekdays and $80 on weekends, with discounts for seniors, youth, students and military. Season passes are $849 for adults.

Bluewood Ski Area in Dayton is opening earlier than expected as well. Opening Day will be Nov. 30.

Single-day adult tickets cost $66. Season passes are $699 for adults, with discounted prices available for seniors, children, students and military.

While a longer wait, Hurricane Ridge Ski and Snowboard Area is scheduled to open Dec. 8. Season passes are available for $369.

The Loup in Okanogan has scheduled Opening Day for Dec. 14.

Season passes are $585 for adults, with discounts available for children, seniors and students.
