Vancouver resident Martin Pittioni files for District 2 seat on Clark County Council

Vancouver resident Martin Pittioni recently announced his run for a seat on the Clark County Council. Pittioni is the first to announce a run for the District 2 position, which is currently held by Michelle Belkot.

Belkot announced in January that she will run for a second term in office.

Since announcing his candidacy, Pittioni said he has been gaining support from across the district and has been endorsed by council Chair Sue Marshall and Councilor Wil Fuentes.

"They are respected, hard-working public servants who understand what it takes to effectively serve Clark County," Pittioni, 61, said in a press release Thursday.

"We need a councilor who shows up every day ready to work for constituents and deliver results," Fuentes said in the release.

He said Pittioni has a strong commitment to public service and a clear understanding of how to move the county forward.

"There are many complex issues facing the county and it takes someone who has the patience, intellect and diligence to find solutions. Martin has the ability to listen to all sides, work across differences and put in the time to build consensus," Marshall said in the release.

Pittioni said his campaign will focus on protecting public safety, improving affordability and ensuring county government operates with integrity and fiscal responsibility.
