The youth was arrested on March 13 and formally charged with a third-degree rape.

Court records show the 13-year-old told a Woodland Middle School counselor on March 4 about a sexual assault that occurred the day before, after school at Woodland's Hoffmann Park, located at 899 Park St., across from the middle school.

During Thursday's hearing, the defendant's attorney, Meghan Elisabeth Dunlap of the Cowlitz County Office of Public Defense, told presiding Cowlitz County Juvenile Court Judge Michael Evans that she subpoenaed the school and needed time to review what items she might receive.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 7. The teen is out on bail, according to court documents.

The Daily News does not reveal the names of minors being tried in juvenile court.
